If We Were Having A Cup Of Coffee

Coffee CupI would tell you last week was hard for me. My hope is this week will be less tiresome and more productive. I started last week off as I do most Mondays with our Monday Morning meetup at Orange Co-Working. Due to the holiday, it was just me and what other attendant, @Regina Weeks. We had a great conversation about our businesses. We talked about how to reach new business prospects. Great conversation and great tips to improve our general business tactics.

If we were having a cup of coffee, my sister and I are adjusting to a new way my mom will stay with us. It’s a new schedule which will mean she will be with me half a week and my sister the other half. Not sure how long my mother will be able to keep up but if you care for parents, you know it can be difficult but taking care of my mother is a “have to” in my book. So I may grumble but I do it because I love my mother and she has done so much for me.

If we were having a cup of coffee, I would tell you I met with some great friends. Vicki McCullough is a great lady I met at my Wednesday morning networking meeting. I also met with my friend Shelley Kaplar. She makes me laugh and we love talking about our dogs and our journeys as entrepreneurs. Me and Shelley photo(111)

If we were having a cup of coffee, I would tell you that throughout all the laughter, all the meetings, my blue cloud was with me. It tries to bring me down, but I keep pushing.

Well, my coffee break is over. We will catch up next week. Have a great week.

If We Were Having A Glass Of Wine…

I would tell you I had a good week but I’m feeling drained right now. I work at a co-working space called Orange Coworking! It is a wonderful place for me to meet people and get a lot of work done. They celebrated their six-month birthday with cake and prizes.

I started off the week with our Monday Morning meetup at Orange. It is a group of entrepreneurs who discuss and brainstorm ideas or issues brought to the table. It is a great way to start the week.

If we were having a glass of wine I would tell you that I’m balancing two businesses. It’s hard but I don’t have to return to a job I would not enjoy. I like controlling my day and being free to work the way I choose. So I’m not complaining just have to figure out my down time because I’m always working or thinking about work.

If we were having a glass of wine I would tell you I attended a E-Women Network Wisdoms Circle. I was a bit nervous at first because I didn’t know what to expect. But I learned a lot and I left with tools I can use to grow my business. The women were great and we were able to connect in the fact we all had one challenge we could get ideas to help us move ahead. What I like is you present the challenge then the other women give you ideas. You cannot speak during this time. You then take those ideas and use them as you see fit. I’ve got some work to do! But it’s all good.

If we were having a glass of wine I would tell you I think I’m finally relaxing on the radio show I do every Friday morning. It’s called the Breakfast Club. I have been a co-host for about at least four years but it takes me a while to feel comfortable in order to show my personality. I have to trust others and my surroundings. I live “on guard” all the time.

Well, I think I have drunk at least half of the bottle so I will see you next week. Have a great weekend!

Be Creative Everyday

I’m writing this because I have whipped myself into a frustrated state. I have been on a art journey for the last two years. This morning I decided to sketch and I want to learn new things to draw besides flowers. I went on to google and put in the search “how to sketch a simple building” I do buildings but they are very kindergarten. I want to draw adult pictures.

I found a simple building but to save my life I could not see the shape visually to make it look close to the building. I wanted to cry. Still do. So I have taken a break and now I’m thinking what to do. I can’t afford classes so I got to make this happen myself. I know practice is the key but I could not see the building visually to practice.

Anyway I’m not giving up I was just surprise how much I worked myself up. What do you do when you get frustrated with something you are sketching or drawing?

Thanks for listening…

If We Were Having a Glass Of Wine…

I would tell you I had a great week. I have started a new business so I’m focusing on building it and making it successful along with my first company.

If we were having a glass of wine I would tell you about the fun celebration at my Coworking space called @OrangeCoworking. They celebrated their “half birt” with cake and good giveaways. Got to know people through the random factoid we all had to tell. Mine was how I wanted to be a motorcycle cop! It’s quite funny being I have never held a gun let alone shot one nor have I ever road a mototcylcle.

If we were having a glass of wine I would tell you I thought about my sister that I loss in January. She was my middle sister. Sometime the grief is overwhelming and lastly

If we were having a glass of wine I would tell you Ujima Magazine had a wonderful seven year celebration last month. We shared memories and stories about the magazine. Thanks to everyone that supports us.

Well I think I have finished the bottle of wine so I will see you soon to share another great bottle of wine.

If We Were Having A Glass Of Wine Right Now…

I would tell you I started my day out at the radio station doing my Breakfast Club show. It always gets my Friday going because I get to talk with people that call in and my co-host and the producer always bring the laughter.

If we were having a glass of wine I would tell you I headed to my sisters. We had a celebration/lets catch up lunch with our friend and Ujima’s Graphic Designer. We meet at least quarterly for lunch or coffee. I was tired but I always enjoy being in the company of friends and family. We had a great time at the Steeping Room. I always order my favorite mango tea and the cucumber sandwich. Yum!

If we were having a glass of wine I would tell you we, I mean, they shopped and I got too tired and it was hot. Another reason I could understand the people waiting in line for the latest iPhone but I couldn’t do it!

Well I have had enough wine for tonight. But before I go I want to thank smileyyearwood.com for sharing this unique way to blog about your day. He in turn found Kate Goes Global blog that does it it with coffee. It a great technique to use. It was easy for me.

Creating My Vision

I had a wonderful day today. I attended a Design Your Dream workshop. Meshell R Baker has lead many people to finding their dream through creating a vision board. This was my first time doing a vision board that reflected my business.

The process to creating my board made me think about my mission statement and what I want people to feel when they walk away from me. It was very eye-opening and doing the activities with a group was the best way to be creative.

I may add to my board as I develop my goals for my business but having a visual reference is really great. Thanks to Meshell and I really enjoyed today!

Photos We Loved: Connected

The Daily Post

There were nearly 800 entries in our recent “Connected” Photo Challenge, and I was constantly blown away by their technical brilliance and original take on the topic. Here are some of my favorites.

The photo I chose to introduce the topic was one of a suspended bridge, and many of you focused on similar physical objects that connect one space to another. For instance, I loved this shot of three bridges crossing Singapore’s Marina Bay, by Debbie Smyth at Travel with Intent — especially how the curved and straight lines seem to engage in a playful dance:

Mitch Zeissler shared a very different take on the theme of bridges, with a moody, black-and-white shot of a fallen tree over a river:

tree bridge

Still on the same topic (I confess being a bridge geek, in case that wasn’t obvious by now), Jane Lurie took a stunning shot of one of the most…
