Health: Self-Care

LoveAndSelfCareHave you heard the term self-care? I learned about self-care during an evaluation I had years ago with my supervisor. The last question she asked me was “What are you doing for your self-care goal?” I did not know how to respond, but I had to create a goal that would help me take care of myself.

I have developed art as my self-care. I started learning about art and creating art last year. It helped me so much to relax and walk away from my job. I am continuing this goal in 2015. I found it to be important because it allows me to have down time and concentrate on something that makes me feel good and grow. I joined a Urban Sketches group, which I love, because I can be around other artist. I joined a demo group at Jerry’s Artarama where I learn different techniques and how to use different tools and lastly my Creative Mingle group is a group of women who come together and create all kinds of art. I love it. Self Care b31be73f21f5a6dba6eae02738798fd1

Self care can be anything you enjoy that will help alleviate stress and help you feel good. Some ideas I use is journaling, petting and playing with my dogs, walking and talking with a friend just to name a few.
