According to the dictionary a vice or vices are an immoral or wicked behavior. We all have them but I have never stopped to account for mine. What about you? So I decided to list my vices that I have right now. I thought I would have at least five but I could only think of one. Yeah , I know what you thinking, you have more than that sister…. Well I can’t think of it right now because I’m enjoying my current vice rum and coke. Don’t judge me!!!
1. Rum and Coke- After a long day, I like to have an adult beverage that consist of rum and coke over ice. It helps bring my day to an end. Of course, I know it is not the best thing but oh well; it works for me. 🙂
I live in Texas and we have been experiencing a lot of rain. I like rain but I like to enjoy it at home when I don’t have anything to do. Lately, I have had to drive in the rain and the lightening (which scares me). I don’t know about you but I’m ready for days without rain.
I carry my umbrella everywhere because I was caught without it once and it was not a good look for me and my hair. 🙂 Today was a beautiful day full of sunshine even though we did get some thunderstorms during the night. So, I hope I’m in for days that will be umbrella free and lots of sunshine!
Do you carry your umbrella with you all the time? Are you ready for umbrella-free days?
I usually don’t’ watch the news because it is so depressing and negative. I rely on my phone notifications or snippets I get as I browse Facebook or other news outlets I’m connected to. But today, I watched a heartfelt story on CBS news.
This story captivated my heart. This young man wanted a family. He had been in foster care for a while. I cannot image feeling like no one wants me or that no one loves me. This young man wanted a family. He was not afraid to ask for someone to adopt him either. His name is Davion Only. His caseworker had placed him once, but it didn’t work out and it changed this young man. All he wanted was a family and someone to love him. After all was said and done, his caseworker adopted him.
I worked as a caseworker for 17 years. There are people who touch you and you can’t shake their situation. You want to do more and you have to manage those feelings. But in this case, I felt so proud that the women who he could count on the most and had been their with him through his search for love and a family adopted him. She gave him the most important thing he wanted and needed. Love. Family. Identity. I salute her.
I am sharing the video because it made me feel that their is hope in the world and their are people who care despite the chaotic world around us all. There are unsung heroes that live among us everyday.
I have always been a big fan of Tattoo’s. I admire the artistry and the visual beauty. I prefer the colorful ones because you can see them more. I also like them because of the stories that usually come with a person have one.
I admit my name is Damita and I want a tattoo! But the problem is I’m scared because I don’t like pain. I want a bright color sunflower placed on my left arm above my elbow. I can see it clearly. I’m getting older and worry it may not be a good look because I’ve waited to long.
I will keep it on my ‘want’ list but if I don’t get it done by my next birthday I will probably just admire everyone else’s.
Do you think there is an age limit to getting a tattoo? Is there something you want but fear keeps you from doing it?
Have you ever thought about how many times you smile a day? Who you smiled at? What made you smile? I think you would be surprised how much you smile throughout the day.
I learned from a mentor that smiling does not cost anything and it can brighten someone’s day and it makes you feel good as well. I smile at people all day long. When I was a caseworker I went into areas that smiling at people made my job easy. Smiling, speaking and looking the person in the eyes. I’ve been smiling a long time!
As I reflect on my day today, I smiled all morning at my networking meeting, my sister and I laughed as I drove home (I count that as smiling) , my dogs made me smile and I smiled speaking with a peer over the phone. You get it, I have smiled all day.
Smiling is good for the soul and it opens the door to a conversation, a question or just an relaxed atmosphere. Try it!
Did you smile today? How did it feel? Did it open the door to a conversation? Keep smiling.
I haven’t been on a vacation in six years. Yes, I’ve been to San Francisco a few times but not time on the beach with just my husband. Before I became an entrepreneur, we took one trip a year. But now with all my money going to my business a vacation has been placed on the back burner.
But I need relaxation bad. I dream about sitting by the ocean sipping an adult beverage listening to the waves come in and go back out, the sand in my toes and the smell of salt water. Oh boy I really need to relax!
So until I get that trip to the ocean I will take time everyday to relax and do something that makes me feel good while having my adult beverage :).
I have been a day behind for about a week. While I got the wave of energy I thought I better catch up before I get comfortable for my quiet time. So I’m quickly catching up on my challenge as well as I posted several stories for Ujima today too. It’s fun to interview its another thing to write up the stories and get them posted. But I did them today…quickly.
Sometimes it’s okay to be quick in getting things done and today was my quick day. So, I’m out and I will be all ready for my new “on time” post tomorrow. Have a great evening. Not to mention one of my favorite shows The Following is coming on now. 🙂
